Declare recent devastation as national disaster: J&K Congress

Jammu, Sep 7 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee today demanded the Centre declare the recent devastation caused by the heavy rains, cloud bursts, landslides and flash floods as a national disaster to ensure people get adequate relief and compensation.
The party also called for proper rehabilitation of the affected people and reconstruction of the damages, besides seeking a mega relief and rehabilitation package from the Centre commensurate with the huge devastation and damage in the union Territory, especially in the Jammu region.
The party also demanded the setting up of a high-level commission of experts to investigate the reasons and contributory man-made factors, including large scale complaints of illegal mining behind the huge damage to the infrastructure and the loss of property.

Woman sub-inspector arrested for taking Rs 45,000 bribe in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad, Jan 13 (UNI) A woman sub-inspector posted in Ghaziabad has been caught red-handed by the Anti-Corruption Organization team while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 45,000, officials confirmed on Tuesday. The accused officer, Bhuvaneshwari Singh, had earlier come into the limelight after participating in the encounter of a criminal on September 23, 2025.
