Deepavali enters UNESCO cultural heritage list; PM says the 'soul of the civilisation' is recognised

New Delhi, Dec 10 (UNI): Sharing the excitement of the country-men in recognising Deepavali as Intangible Heritage of the World by the UNESCO, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the event marked the recognition of the soul of Indian civilisation.
UNESCO's intergovernmental committee for safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage which is in session in Delhi from Monday announced this important decision. India’s Deepavali festival has been selected from a total of 67 nominations submitted by nearly 80 countries.
On Wednesday morning, UNESCO, in a congratulatory post on X, declared the inscription of Deepavali on the Intangible Heritage List of the UN agency.

Delhi air quality remains ‘severe’ as fog, cold conditions persist

New Delhi, Jan 18 (UNI) Delhi continued to grapple with severe air pollution on Sunday, with the city’s overall Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded at 439 at 7 am, firmly in the ‘severe’ category, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). The situation had already worsened late Saturday night, when the AQI stood at 432 around 10 pm, before deteriorating further by Sunday morning.

CAQM invokes GRAP- IV measures as Delhi's AQI reaches severe zone
