Delhi chokes under "severe" pollution, Anand Vihar eecords AQI 493

New Delhi, Jan 18(UNI) Severe air pollution continued to choke the national capital on Sunday, even as a cold weather swept through the city, offering little to no relief in air quality.
According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) remained in the “severe” category across most parts of the city on Sunday morning, driven largely by high levels of fine particulate matter (PM2.5).
Anand Vihar reported the worst air quality, with an AQI of 493, followed closely by Rohini at 488. Other pollution hotspots also recorded alarmingly high AQI levels. Wazirpur registered 483, while Bawana recorded 478. Dwarka Sector 8 reported an AQI of 471 and Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium at 470 at around 9 am.
