New Delhi, Feb 17 (UNI) External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar called on visiting Qatar Amir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani on Monday evening, and voiced confidence that the talks between the Amir and PM Narendra Modi tomorrow will deepen the bonds of friendship.
In a post on X, the EAM said:
“Honoured to call on H.H. @TamimBinHamad, Amir of Qatar on his arrival in New Delhi for a State Visit.
“Value his guidance on advancing our cooperation in many domains. Confident that his talks with PM @narendramodi tomorrow will deepen our close bonds of friendship.”
According to the Qatari readout, during the meeting, they discussed bilateral cooperation relations between the two countries, in addition to the latest regional and international developments.
The meeting was attended by Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani and a number of senior members of the accompanying official delegation.
Earlier, Prime Minister Modi in a special gesture received Qatar Amir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani at the airport, and the two leaders exchanged warm hugs.
Qatari Ambassador in New Delhi Mohammed bin Hassan Al Jaber and Indian Ambassador in Doha Vipul were also present at the airport, besides EAM Jaishankar.
On Tuesday morning, the Qatar Amir will be accorded a ceremonial reception at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The Qatar Amir and PM Modi will hold bilateral talks at Hyderabad House at noon, which will be followed by exchange of MoUs.
In the evening, there will be a meeting between the Qatar Amir and President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
