ED attaches properties worth Rs 5.41 Cr in Punjab in 'Dunky' illegal immigration case

New Delhi (December 15, UNI): The Enforcement Directorate (ED), Jalandhar Zonal Office, stated on Monday that it has attached movable and immovable properties worth Rs 5.41 crore, derived from or equivalent to the proceeds of crime generated by agents Shubham Sharma, Jagjit Singh, and Surmukh Singh, who were involved in illegally sending people to the USA via the ''dunky'' route.
The attached properties include agricultural land, residential premises, commercial premises, and bank accounts held in the names of these agents and their family members.
The ED initiated its PMLA investigation based on various FIRs registered by the Punjab and Haryana Police under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023 (formerly IPC 1860), and the Immigration Act, 1983. These cases relate to the deportation of 330 Indian nationals to India on military cargo planes in February 2025 by the US government after they were found to have entered the USA illegally.
