Mumbai, Nov 27 (UNI) The film Kannappa. featuring Bollywood's Khiladi Akshay Kumar and South Indian icon Prabhas, will release on April 25, 2025, its makers have announced.
The film marks the first-ever collaboration between the two megastars. The recently unveiled striking poster features the symbolic trident of Lord Shiva accompanied by the new release date.
Khiladi Kumar took to his Instagram handle to share the poster which reads. "The untold story of Lord Shiva's greatest devotee...worldwide release 25 April 2025. The Bravest Warrior. The Ultimate Devotee."
The movie was originally slated for a 2024 release.
Rooted in Telugu folklore, Kannappa narrates the inspiring journey of a fearless warrior who transforms from an atheist to a devout follower of Lord Shiva. Known for his unwavering devotion, Kannappa is remembered for his act of sacrifice — offering his own eyes to the deity in a display of unmatched faith and reverence.
The film has been directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh and produced by Mohan Babu under the banner of 24 Frames Factory. Vishnu Manchu is the screenwriter and even plays the titular role.
The movie features the ensemble cast of Josita Anola, Nayanthara, Kajal Aggarwal, Preity Mukhundhan, Mohanlal and Brahmanandam in key roles. In the movie Prabhas will play the role of Nandeeswarudu, Akshay Kumar will play lord Shiva, and Kajal Aggarwal will be seen as Goddess Parvati. UNI XC SSP
