Dussehra weekend drives theatre crowds as ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ dominates box office

New Delhi, Oct 3 (UNI) The festive weekend, marked by Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra falling together on October 2, saw families flocking to cinemas to enjoy the holiday.
The box office buzz was led by Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ and Varun Dhawan’s ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’, both drawing large audiences and boosting collections.
The makers of ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ announced an impressive milestone, with over 1.28 million tickets sold on the first day alone. The film also set a new record on Book My Show for the highest Day 1 sales in 2025.
A post on the film’s official Instagram read, “The roar of KantaraChapter1 echoes across the nation with 1.28 MILLION tickets sold in 24 hours! The divine spectacle records the highest Day 1 sales on Book My Show in 2025.”
Earlier today, Rishab Shetty expressed heartfelt gratitude to fans for the overwhelming response.
On X, he shared, “From struggling to get one evening show in 2016 to 5000 houseful shows in 2025. This journey is nothing but your love, support, and God’s grace. Forever grateful to every single person who made this possible. KantaraChapter1.”
Shetty also appealed to viewers to avoid recording and sharing videos of the film online, emphasising the importance of preserving the cinematic experience. He posted, “Dear Kantara Family and Cinema Lovers, KantaraChapter1 is as much yours as ours, and your love has made it truly unforgettable. We humbly request you not to share/record videos from the film and not to encourage piracy. Let’s keep the magic of Kantara alive in theatres, so everyone can feel it the way it was meant to be. Experience BlockbusterKantara only in cinemas.”
