Naseer, Neena Gupta, Saif Ali Khan attend ‘Prithvi Festival’ opening night

Mumbai, Nov 5 (UNI) The opening night of the Prithvi Festival 2025 turned into a dazzling celebration of theatre, cinema, and artistic camaraderie, as some of the biggest names from the film and theatre world gathered at Mumbai’s iconic Prithvi Theatre.
The gala evening saw an impressive lineup of personalities — Naseeruddin Shah, Neena Gupta, Saif Ali Khan, Mahesh Bhatt, Pooja Bhatt, Ratna Pathak Shah, Vinay Pathak, and Divya Dutta, among others — who came together to honour and celebrate the timeless spirit of Indian theatre.
Photos from the event, shared on Prithvi Theatre’s official social media handle, captured the joyous atmosphere of the night. One standout image featured Naseeruddin Shah and Neena Gupta dancing with unbridled joy, perfectly embodying the evening’s infectious energy.
The post was captioned, “An evening of celebration, connection, and theatre’s timeless charm. Here’s to the warmth, the respect, and the magic that opened Prithvi Festival 2025.”
Fans expressed nostalgia and admiration online, celebrating not only the reunion of legendary artists but also the enduring legacy of Prithvi Theatre.
Running from November 1 to 17, the Prithvi Festival 2025 promises a rich lineup of plays, film screenings, musical performances, discussions, and workshops — continuing the theatre’s long-standing tradition of fostering creativity and community.
Founded by the legendary Prithviraj Kapoor in 1944, the original Prithvi Theatre company thrived for 16 years during the peak of his illustrious film career. Although health issues eventually forced him to halt performances, Prithviraj Kapoor remained an ardent supporter of theatrical ventures led by former members of his troupe.
After his passing, his son, the late Shashi Kapoor, established a trust to carry forward his father’s vision and passion for theatre. This led to the creation of the much-loved Prithvi Theatre in Juhu, Mumbai — built on the very site where Prithviraj Kapoor had once dreamed of creating a permanent home for his company.
Today, over four decades later, Prithvi Theatre continues to stand as a vibrant symbol of India’s performing arts legacy, bringing together generations of artists and audiences under one creative roof.
