Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘Theri’ returns to theatres after ten years

New Delhi, Jan 11 (UNI) Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief and actor Thalapathy Vijay’s 2016 blockbuster ‘Theri’ is set to make a return to theatres, much to the delight of his fans. The re-release comes at a time when anticipation around Vijay’s upcoming film ‘Jana Nayagan’ continues to build amid reports of a delay.
Producer Kalaipuli S. Thanu of V Creations announced on X that ‘Theri’ will be re-released on January 15, 2026, marking a decade since the film’s original release. The announcement was accompanied by a special poster celebrating the milestone.
Directed by Atlee, ‘Theri’ featured Vijay in a dual role as DCP Vijaya Kumar and Joseph Kuruvilla. The film follows a former police officer who steps away from his career to raise his young daughter in peace, only to be drawn back into danger when his past catches up with him.
Child actor Nainika played Vijay’s daughter, while Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Amy Jackson appeared in pivotal roles.
The re-release coincides with heightened excitement for ‘Jana Nayagan’, which is being touted as Vijay’s final film.
Originally scheduled for a January 9, 2026 release, the film has reportedly been delayed due to certification issues. ‘Jana Nayagan’ is directed by H. Vinoth and produced by Venkat K. Narayana under the banner of KVN Productions.
