Stars didn't charge any fees for Raja Shivaji: Riteish Deshmukh

Mumbai, May 5 (UNI) Actor and filmmaker Riteish Deshmukh has shared that the entire ensemble cast of his latest film "Raja Shivaji" chose not to take any remuneration for their roles, treating the project as a collective homage to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
Released on May 1, the film is winning hearts with audiences, grossing a staggering ₹33 crore in just three days. Meanwhile, Riteish Deshmukh has made a startling revelation: all the actors in the film worked on it without charge.
Deshmukh said, "This Marathi film has received the most screens in Maharashtra. We've read every book on the Maharaja. His history is so vast that it's not easy to capture it in one film. Our job was to present this film without compromise. Salman Khan is my brother; he has worked in both of my films. I worked on the script for three and a half years. All the big actors in this film have worked without any fees; they all worked for the Maharaj."
According to the 47-year-old actor-director, they have released the film in both Hindi and Marathi. With the summer holidays just around the corner, this is a great opportunity for the entire family and children to learn about the Maharaj through this film.
Salman Khan appears in a special role in the film, playing Jiva Mahale, Shivaji Maharaj's bodyguard. Abhishek Bachchan essays the role of Chhatrapati's elder brother Sambhaji Shahaji Bhosale, while Sanjay Dutt plays Afzal Khan. "Raja Shivaji" also brings together several prominent actors from Hindi and Marathi cinema, including Vidya Balan, Mahesh Manjrekar, Sachin Khedekar, Boman Irani, Bhagyashree, Fardeen Khan, Jitendra Joshi, Amol Gupte, and Genelia Deshmukh. Riteish Deshmukh, besides playing the lead role, also plays a key role behind the scenes.
Presented by Jio Studios and produced by Mumbai Film Company, the film is produced by Jyoti Deshpande and Genelia Deshmukh. This historical film depicts the life and legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj with grandeur and emotion. UNI NST SSP
