Mukesh Ambani heaps praise on 3000 crore 'Dhurandhar'

Mumbai, June 3 (UNI) Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani has lauded the phenomenal success of the "Dhurandhar" franchise, describing it as a landmark achievement that has redefined benchmarks for Indian cinema
The franchise has been in the news ever since it was released in theatres on December 5. The film received tremendous acclaim worldwide and emerged as a global box office phenomenon. Starring Ranveer Singh in the lead role, it has scripted a new and biggest success story in the history of Indian cinema.
Speaking about Jio Studios' recent successes, Ambani credited the 'Dhurandhar' franchise for setting new benchmarks across the industry.
He said, "Jio Studios has created a unique record of delivering the highest-grossing film for three consecutive years: 'Stree 2' in 2024, 'Dhurandhar' in 2025, and 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge' in 2026. This proves our consistency and undisputed leadership. In FY 2025-26, Jio Studios released the record-breaking spy action thriller films 'Dhurandhar' and 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge' (together the Dhurandhar franchise), which have set new benchmarks in worldwide box office performance, release strategy, monetization model, and customer engagement."
Ambani also spoke about the unique strategy behind the franchise's production and release. He claimed, "Never before in the world, let alone India, has a film franchise been conceived, financed, and shot as two parts, and then released within such a short span of time."
Talking about the box office performance of the films, he wrote, "The first part single-handedly created the record of becoming the highest-grossing Indian film of all time. The film created an unprecedented record of running continuously for 15 weeks in theatres, after which the second part hit the theatres amid huge anticipation and shattered all the records set by the first part."
According to reports, the "Dhurandhar" franchise, made with a combined budget of approximately Rs 350 crore (approximately $1.5 billion), has emerged as one of Indian cinema's biggest blockbuster stories. While the first installment grossed a staggering Rs 1,307 crore (approximately $1.5 billion) worldwide, its sequel went a step further, surpassing the Rs 1,800 crore mark at the global box office. The entire franchise has earned over Rs 3,100 crore (approximately $3.5 billion), cementing its blockbuster credentials forever.
The films received an overwhelming response from audiences, especially Singh's portrayals of 'Jaskirat' and 'Hamza', who played a key role in making the franchise a household name.
