Ram Charan suffered real injuries for 'Peddi', completed shooting amidst pain

Mumbai, Jun 3 (UNI) Actor Ram Charan reportedly endured several real-life injuries while filming the physically demanding wrestling sequences for his upcoming period action drama "Peddi", underscoring his commitment to authenticity on screen.
The actor suffered multiple injuries, including a severe cartilage tear in his wrist and a cut above his left eye, while shooting for high-octane wrestling sequences in director Buchi Babu Sana's upcoming film.
Known for his sincerity in portraying his roles, Charan insisted on working with real wrestlers for several scenes in the film. However, many of these wrestlers were unable to control their strikes during shooting, as their natural instincts, developed through the sport, often took over the scenes. The aggressive grappling and highly realistic wrestling moves often resulted in violent collisions, resulting in injuries to him. After each take, the wrestlers would often apologise to the actor for inadvertently causing injury.
The effects of this extremely challenging shoot reportedly lingered on the 41-year-old actor even after filming concluded. The actor revealed that the constant wrestling and grappling sequences caused severe tension and tremors in his injured wrist, making even normal activities painful after filming.
Set in rural Andhra Pradesh in the 1980s and 90s, 'Peddi' is an emotional period action drama. Charan plays a simple laborer who struggles against oppressive forces to protect the identity, dignity, and survival of his marginalised community.
