European T20 Premier League unveils franchise owners, host cities

Sydney, Jan 21 (UNI) The ICC-sanctioned European T20 Premier League (ETPL) on Wednesday unveiled the owners of its first three franchises at an international press conference in Sydney, with the iconic Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge as the backdrop.
Amsterdam, Edinburgh, and Belfast were confirmed as the inaugural franchise cities for the league, which is set to begin in late summer 2026, marking a major step in the professionalisation of cricket in Europe.
The Amsterdam franchise will be owned by a consortium led by former Australia captain and World Cup-winning great Steve Waugh, alongside Australian hockey legend Jamie Dwyer, a five-time World Player of the Year and Olympic gold medallist, and Tim Thomas, former CEO of the Centre for Australia-India Relations and ex-partner at KPMG Australia.
