FAM trip organised to boost rural tourism in UP

Lucknow, Apr 26 (UNI) In order to promote rural tourism, Uttar Pradesh tourism on Saturday launched a special Familiarisation Trip (FAM Trip) for participants to explore the cultural heritage, traditional crafts, local cuisine and folk arts of various rural destinations in the state.
The main objective of this initiative is to highlight tourism potential in rural areas and economically empower local communities. On the first day of the four-day trip, participants visited Jait village in Mathura district, where they engaged with active self-help groups, experienced local crafts and observed traditional activities such as pottery making, crafting traditional toys, designing outfits for Lord Laddu Gopal and making Tulsi bead garlands.
The group interacted with local women artisans, gaining insights into their skills, livelihoods and the critical role they play in preserving traditional crafts. This experience is expected to greatly assist in showcasing the potential of rural tourism in the region.
