Farmer leader Chaduni slaps DFSC officer; over 20 protesters detained

Chandigarh, Oct 15 (UNI) Tension prevailed in Haryana's Kurukshetra today after Bharatiya Kisan union (Chaduni) chief Gurnam Singh Chaduni allegedly slapped District Food and Supplies Controller (DFSC) Rajesh Kumar during a protest over paddy procurement delays.
Chaduni and a group of farmers had gathered at the mini-secretariat to protest against what they claimed was the administration's failure to ensure smooth paddy purchase.
Following the altercation, police detained Chaduni along with more than 20 farmers and took them to Jhansa police station. Soon after, several farmers reached the station and began a sit-in protest outside, prompting authorities to deploy additional police personnel.

CM Sukhu reviews tourism projects; Rs 460 cr disbursed for Kangra Airport expansion

Shimla, Nov 7 (UNI) Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today reviewed various ongoing tourism projects of the Tourism Department and said that land awards worth Rs 460 crore have been released and disbursed to beneficiaries towards land acquisition for the expansion of Kangra Airport. Awards amounting to another Rs 1,899 crore are ready for disbursement, he added. .
