FIFA boss Infantino meets Trump in Florida

Florida, Jan 19 (UNI) FIFA President Gianni Infantino said on Saturday he had met with US President-elect Donald Trump in Florida to discuss the upcoming tournaments scheduled to be held in the United states.
According to Infantino, he and Trump discussed the Club World Cup, which will be held in the US from June 15 to July 13, as well the 2026 World Cup, which will be jointly hosted in the US, Canada and Mexico.
"I was honoured to meet US President @realdonaldtrump at Mar-a-Lago in Florida ahead of his upcoming inauguration. We discussed this summer’s FIFA Club World Cup and the FIFA World Cup in 2026 - two truly global tournaments which the United States will play a key role in hosting. Thank you Mr President for your time and for supporting FIFA over the coming months. America welcomes the World and Football Unites The World!," Infantino said on Instagram (owned by Meta, banned in Russia as extremist), attaching photos with Trump.
Trump has been a strong supporter of FIFA and the two major tournaments that will be held in the United States over the next 18 months, FIFA chief recalled.
Trump's inauguration will take place on January 20 in Washington. Earlier, the politician confirmed that he had ordered the inauguration to be moved indoors due to the cold weather, with the main part of the event taking place in the Capitol rotunda.
