Fire breaks out in lobby area of J&K Assembly

Jammu, June 11 (UNI) A fire broke out on Wednesday morning in the lobby area of Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Complex in the Civil Secretariat.
The fire was, however, controlled with swift action by the Assembly staff.
Police sources said that a fire this morning broke out in the lobby area of Assembly Complex.
They said that some photographs of former governors, chief ministers and legislators along with furniture were destroyed in the fire.
"On seeing flames, the Assembly staff were the first one to respond. They acted swiftly and with the help of fire extinguishers, the fire was controlled," said a police officer.
A fire tender was also rushed to the spot to douse the flames, adding, "short circuit is believed to be the cause of the fire."
The matter however, is being investigated, they said.
