Flash floods kill 2, cause extensive damage in east Afghanistan

Kabul, July 6 (UNI) Torrential rains triggered severe flash floods that swept through parts of eastern Afghanistan's Nangarhar province, killing two children and leaving a trail of destruction, a local official said today.
The floods affected multiple districts, where at least 280 residential houses were washed away, Qurishi Badlon, the provincial director for Information and Culture, told Xinhua.
The disaster has also severely damaged the region's agricultural sector, said Badlon, adding that around 5,000 acres of farmland were submerged.

France backs off on purchase of US weapons for supplying to Ukraine
