Former ISI chief Lt Gen Faiz Hameed sentenced to 14 yrs' imprisonment by Pakistan's military tribunal

Islamabad, Dec 11 (UNI) Former head of Pakistani intelligence Lt Gen (Retd) Faiz Hamid was sentenced to 14 years of imprisonment by a military tribunal on allegations of breaching military discipline, misuse of authority, and taking political actions detrimental to state interests.
The retired chief of the country's premier intelligence wing - the Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) – was put on trial by the Pakistan military's Field General Court Marshal on Aug 12, 2024, under the Pakistan Army Act, which went on for 15 months, according to a press statement by the military's media wing – the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).
As per the ISPR, the former ISI chief was tried on four charges, including engaging in political activities, violating the Official Secrets Act in a manner "detrimental to the safety and interest of the state", misuse of authority and government resources, and causing wrongful loss to individuals.

Davos, Jan 22 (UNI) Senior White House advisor and top presidential aide Jared Kushner presented his vision for Gaza at the Board of Peace signing ceremony in Davos on Thursday, saying that the next phase is to "work with Hamas on demilitarisation."
As per Kushner, Washington plans to bring "free market economy principles to Gaza," in a manner similar to the way his father-in-law, President Donald Trump is doing back in the US, reflecting a near-same exact mindset for the enclave as Trump.

Trump claims Russia – Ukraine war will be over 'pretty soon' on sidelines of Davos summit

Davos, Jan 22 (UNI) US President Donald Trump, speaking on the sidelines of the inauguration of the Board of Peace in Davos on Thursday, referred to the Russia – Ukraine war and said, that though it has been contrary to his expectations the most difficult conflict to solve, he expects a settlement between Moscow and Kyiv to be imminent, claiming that the war will be over "pretty soon."
Reiterating his misplaced claims of ending eight wars, he remarked that this will soon be the ninth entry on his roster of the conflicts he believes to have put to bed.
