Four contestants in race at 4th Round in National Women’s Chess Championship

Durgapur, Dec 6 (UNI) The 4th round of the 51st National Women’s Chess Championship here on Saturday witnessed a tightly contested race in which 4 players jointly led with perfect 4 points at the Sidhu Kanhu Stadium, where the country’s top women chess players are battling it out for national glory.
Local challenge Bristy Mukherjee gained 3.5 points after beating Velpula Sarayu of Telangana. After the completion of four rounds WGM Mary Ann Gomes (PSPB) of West Bengal, beat S Jeevika (Puduchery), WFM Shubhi Gupta of UP beat WFM Nivedita V C of Tamilnadu in the top board.
In the 3rd board V Varshini of Tamilnadu lost to Akshaya Sathi of Karnataka, and Divi Bijesh beat of Kerala defeated WCM Modipalli Deekshitha of Andhra Pradesh Top seeded WGM Arpita Mukherjee drew with Ananya Raman.
