Lucknow, Sep 7 (UNI) At least Four persons were killed and 28 others injured when a three-story building collapsed in Transport Nagar in Sraojini Nagar area of the state capital Lucknow on
Saturday evening, police sources said here.
Police sources said that fire tenders and rescue teams reached the spot after getting the information and a relief and rescue operation was launched.
The building housed the warehouse of a medicine company, they said.
Divisional Commissioner Roshan Jacob said that so far four deaths have been confirmed.
"The injured were treated at the Lok Bandhu hospital and KGMU. Assessment of people still
trapped under the debris is still being done," she said.
Sources said that rescue work is still being done by the teams of the NDRF, SDRF along with the Municipal Corporation and other agencies.
"The incident took place this evening when the building collapsed all of a sudden. The reason behind the collapse is still not clear," they said.
Earlier, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took cognisance of the accident caused by the collapse of a building in Lucknow district.
He directed the district administration officials to immediately send the injured to the hospital and to provide them with proper treatment. Along with this, he also wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.
The CM directed the district administration officials to reach the spot and expedite the relief work.
