Fresh wave of Chin refugees enter Mizoram as rebel factions clash across Myanmar border

Aizawl, July 6 (UNI) Fierce clashes between rival Chin rebel groups in Myanmar’s Chin State have triggered a fresh influx of refugees into Mizoram, with more than 3,000 people fleeing their homes and seeking shelter in the Indian border village of Zokhawthar in Champhai district since July two.
Local authorities said at least 2,845 civilians from Khawmawi and Rihkhawdar—two Myanmar villages just across the Tiau River—have crossed over into Mizoram, following days of heavy fighting between the Chinland Defence Force-Hualngoram (CDF-Hualngoram) and the Chin National Defence Force (CNDF).
The actual number may be higher, police sources said, as many children might have entered uncounted amidst the confusion.
