FRLD unveils call for funding request on day one of COP30

Belem (Brazil), Nov 10 (UNI) An operating UN entity, that addresses the needs of vulnerable communities in developing countries facing the irreversible impacts of climate change, unveiled its first Call for Funding Requests under the Barbados Implementation Modalities (BIM) on the opening day of COP30.
The call given by the Fund for Responding to Loss and Damage (FRLD), which is a USD 250 million initiative under the financial mechanism of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), signifies a pivotal moment in the Fund's development, said Harjeet Singh, Climate Activist and Founding Director of Satat Sampada Climate Foundation.
According to Harjeet, the call heralds a shift from a theoretical framework towards tangible operations.

Negotiations aim to defend National interests, do not mean surrender: Pezeshkian

Tehran, May 10 (UNI) Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Sunday that the very basis of engaging in negotiations with the United States is to secure the country’s rights and firmly defend national interests, asserting that dialogue should not be interpreted as “surrender or retreat.”
Pezeshkian said the Iranian nation “will never bow before the enemy,” as reported by the Iranian state media.
