George Clooney credits wife Amal for decision to avoid ‘Kissing Scenes’

New Delhi, Dec 15 (UNI) Hollywood actor George Clooney has revealed that he has chosen to step away from filming on-screen kissing scenes with female co-stars,a decision influenced by a conversation with his wife, human rights lawyer Amal Clooney, according to People.
In a recent interview with the Daily Mail, the 64-year-old actor explained that after turning 60, he began rethinking romantic on-screen moments, particularly kisses
“I’ve been trying to go the route Paul Newman did, ‘Okay, well, I’m not kissing a girl anymore,’” Clooney said.
Reflecting on the conversation with his wife, he explained, “I said, ‘Look, I can still play basketball with the boys. I play with 25-year-old guys. I can still hang, I’m in shape. But in 25 years, I’m 85 years old. It doesn’t matter how many granola bars you eat, that’s a real number.’”
Clooney, known for his roles in romantic films such as Ticket to Paradise (2022) opposite Julia Roberts, Intolerable Cruelty (2003) with Catherine Zeta-Jones, and One Fine Day (1996) alongside Michelle Pfeiffer, reflected on the challenges of performing kissing scenes over the years.
He recalled an early career moment when a director criticized his technique: “Not like that,” the director said. Clooney joked in response, “Dude, that’s my move! That’s what I do in real life!”
Discussing his recent work on Ticket to Paradise, Clooney revealed that filming a kissing scene with Julia Roberts took multiple attempts. “Yeah. I told my wife, ‘It took 80 takes,’” he said. Roberts clarified, “It took 79 takes of us laughing and then one take of us kissing.” Clooney added, “Well, we had to get it right.”
The actor also opened up about his long-lasting marriage with Amal during a November interview with CBS News.
“Well, when you’re younger, you want to be right about everything…But Amal and I, everybody gets ticked off when I say it, we’ve never had a fight. We never had an argument,” he said.
“Some of it is because I’m at this point in life where if she wants to paint the wall red, I don’t care.”
George and Amal Clooney were introduced by a friend in July 2013, began dating shortly after, and became engaged in April 2014. The couple married that September and are parents to eight-year-old twins, Alexander and Ella.
