Governor says AP leads in health care services, medical education

Vijayawada, Sep 9 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Governor and Chancellor of Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences, S Abdul Nazeer, has said that Andhra Pradesh has always been at the forefront of health care services and medical education. The Governor presided over the 27th & 28th annual convocation of the University held at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram here.
Delivering the Convocation Address today, Governor Abdul asserted that Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences, established in 1986, was the first of its kind in the country, adding that on the medical education front, the State has been making rapid progress compared to the rest of the country and South India.
The Governor announced that a new medical college has started in the remote tribal area of Paderu, joining 34 others in the State. Efforts are underway to fill vacancies in the Medical and Health departments. Postgraduate courses in Anesthesiology and Radiation Oncology are now available at Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital, Visakhapatnam.
