Govt crosses all limits of cruelty to suppress farmers: AAP

New Delhi, Feb 12 (UNI) In a scathing attack against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Aam Aadmi Party on Monday asserted that today’s government is crossing all limits of cruelty by erecting barricades to quash farmers' demands, similarly like how the British government exceeded all bounds of cruelty to suppress the demands for independence of freedom fighters.
Addressing the media, AAP’s Delhi Convenor Gopal Rai said, “Our country is said to be an agrarian country. Indian farmers produce grain by sweating in scorching heat, freezing cold, and rain, and they work to fill the stomachs of everyone from the village patwari to the Prime Minister.
They produce food grains for the people of this country, irrespective of caste, religion, region, status, gender, and age. But to stop the Delhi march of the farmers on the 13th February, the BJP government of Haryana, on the instructions of the BJP's central government, is adopting more cruel tactics than the British, which today are reminiscent of the era of slavery,” he said.
In a press conference, while presenting a video from Haryana to reporters, Rai said, “Scenes like these are seen in films based on the lives of many freedom fighters including Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Subhash Chandra Bose, Mahatma Gandhi, Dr Ambedkar. By watching those films, it is evident that the British government used to quash the demand for independence with cruelty, crossing all limits.”
“Today, if the souls of freedom fighters are watching, they would not be able to believe how farmers are being treated in independent India for peacefully demanding what was assured to them by the Central government. The farmers want to come to Delhi peacefully and the roads have been barricaded to stop them. Perhaps such strong walls are not even built on the India-Pakistan border,” he asserted.
The AAP leader termed that if BJP crosses the 400 mark in the Lok Sabha elections then it will be unfortunate for the country.
Last time when farmers marched to Delhi against all three black laws, they were stopped at the border. The agitation lasted for more than a year. The Prime Minister apologized and withdrew all three black laws, promising to guarantee MSP to farmers. Farmers are still waiting to see whether the law guaranteeing MSP will come or not, Rai further said.
