Govt's foremost goal is to totally eradicate poverty, TN will be India's model state for urban excellence by 2031

Chennai, June 18 (UNI) The Tamil Nadu government's foremost goal was to completely eradicate poverty and create a poverty-free state, while making TN as India's Model State for urban excellence by 2031, Governor R V Arlekar announced in the State Assembly on Thursday.
Delivering his maiden customary address to the House on the first day of the first session of the new TVK government headed by Chief Minister Vijay, the Governor said to completely eradicate poverty, the Government will identify poor families in and ensure that Government’s welfare schemes reach them, improve their livelihood by creating opportunities and facilities for them to undertake self-employment.
Pointing out that Tamil Nadu is the most urbanised State in India, he said by 2031, TN will stand as India’s model State for urban excellence. Over the next five years, every Municipal Corporation, Municipality and Town Panchayat in the state will provide better quality life to its citizens by providing clean drinking-water supply, modern urban infrastructure, green and clean environment, digital governance and stable economic opportunities.

Telangana CEO directs officials to expedite electoral roll revision

Sudharsan Reddy on Tuesday directed district election officials to expedite the Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 of electoral rolls and ensure that over 90 per cent of the enumeration process is completed by the end of this week.
