Govt striving for a cataract-free Maharashtra::Fadnavis

Mumbai, Feb 13 (UNI) The Maharashtra government is striving to fulfill the dream of making the state cataract-free, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Thursday, acknowledging the supporting role of organisations like Mastec and Shankara Foundation, USA, as also those in Vidarbha.
Describing the work done by such organisations is admirable, he said the aim was to perform about one lakh free cataract surgeries every year.
Keeping the health of the citizens as a priority, various schemes related to keeping people healthy and fit have been launched by the government. In line with this, the Cataract Free Maharashtra Mission, which has been undertaken by the government since 2017, was launched anew in 2018 to address blindness caused by cataracts in the elderly and to address it.
