Hamas agrees to cede Gaza administration to Technocratic committee, but disarmament deadlock persists

New Delhi, Jul 8 (UNI)Nearly two decades after taking control of Gaza, Hamas has announced the dissolution of its governing structures and the transfer of civilian administrative authority to a committee of Palestinian technocrats, a move widely viewed as an effort to revive the next phase of the US-backed peace process while stopping short of meeting Israel's central demand for disarmament.
The announcement follows ongoing negotiations brokered by Egypt and is seen as an attempt to advance the second phase of the US-backed ceasefire framework that came into effect in October 2025. The proposed civilian administration, known as the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG), is intended to oversee governance in the war-ravaged enclave once conditions permit.
