Haryana expands breast cancer screening network, to add mammography units in eight districts

Panchkula, June 18 (UNI) The Haryana government will expand breast cancer screening facilities across the state by installing advanced mammography machines in eight district hospitals, a move aimed at improving early detection for women in semi-urban and rural areas, officials said on Wednesday.
The initiative, being implemented under the state's flagship 'Swasth Nari–Sashakt Parivar' Clinics programme, is expected to reduce the need for patients to travel long distances for diagnostic tests and strengthen early cancer detection services.
Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Sumita Misra, said Full-Field Digital Mammography (FFDM) machines will be installed at district civil hospitals in Panchkula, Rewari, Sonipat, Kurukshetra, Panipat, Karnal and Narnaul, as well as at Civil Hospital, Sector-10, Gurugram.
