Mumbai, July 16 ( UNI) The Bombay High Court has expressed strong displeasure over the growing problem of littering and spitting in public places across Mumbai, referring to the tendency to spit in the open as a "national hobby."
The court directed Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Ashwini Bhide to fix responsibility on ward officials for garbage being dumped on roads, footpaths, and other public spaces, and to ensure stricter penal action against violators.
