Himachal: Police arrest proclaimed offender in major crackdown

Dehra (HP) March 11 (UNI) In a significant breakthrough, the Himachal Pradesh Police have arrested a proclaimed offender as part of a special drive to track down absconding accused and missing persons.
Dehra district superintendent of police Mayank Choudhary told UNI that a special unit — Proclaimed Offender & Missing Person Unit (POMPU) — has been constituted under the supervision of IPS officer Shumarla Chaudhary to ensure the arrest of proclaimed offenders and the effective tracing of missing persons. The unit aims to enforce court orders and ensure legal search and rehabilitation of missing individuals.
The SP said that, acting on specific intelligence input, the POMPU team on March 11 conducted a search operation in the Jwalamukhi area and arrested Ranbir Dhiman (37), son of Deshraj, a resident of Khas Ghanour (Lower Ghanour) in Jwalamukhi tehsil of Kangra district.
