HP HC directs suspended JBT teachers to appear before competent authority

Shimla, May 22 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh High Court has directed the suspended primary teachers, who are protesting the merger of the Directorate of Elementary Education with the Directorate of Higher Education, to appear before the competent authority regarding their suspension. The matter would now be heard again on May 28.
The directive was issued by Justice Sandeep Sharma during a hearing held in his court today. The suspended teachers — Jagdish Sharma, Sanjay, Pratap Thakur, and Ram Singh Rao — had earlier filed a petition challenging their suspension. The court reiterated its earlier stand that the teachers must first file appeals before the appropriate authority.
All suspended teachers have submitted their appeals before the Secretary (Education) to the Government of Himachal Pradesh, who has fixed May 27, 2025, as the date of hearing on their appeals. The High Court has now directed the state to submit the outcome of the Secretary’s decision in the next hearing scheduled for May 28.
