Hyd: Sr. Congress leader Hanumantha Rao begins indefinite hunger strike demanding inclusion of BCs in Census

Hyderabad, May 9 (UNI) V. Hanumantha Rao, Advisor (BC Welfare and Department) to the Government and former convener of the OBC MPs Forum, on Saturday began an indefinite hunger strike at his residence in Amberpet in Hyderabad demanding inclusion of Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in the nationwide census being conducted by the Central Government.
Several political leaders and representatives of BC organisations participated in the programme, including Whip Adi Srinivas, MLC Kodandaram, MLA and OBC Committee Chairman Shankaraiah, BC Association president Jajula Srinivas and others.
Addressing the gathering at the hunger strike camp, Hanumantha Rao said he had written several letters to PM Narendra Modi urging the Centre to include a separate column for BCs in the census to ensure justice and welfare measures based on their population.

Chennai, June 17 (UNI) The Madras High Court on Wednesday ordered issuance of notices to the concerned parties and adjourned to June 29, the petition filed by Opposition AIADMK against Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker JCD Prabhakar accepting the resignation of four Rebel AIADMK legislators, who joined joining the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) of Chief Minister Vijay, when disqualification proceedings were pending against them for voting in favour of the government in the trust vote in violation of the whip.
