IGP Boralingaiah: Maddur situation under control

Mandya, Sept 8 (UNI) Inspector General of Police (Southern Range) MB Boralingaiah today assured that the tense situation in Karnataka's Maddur, which erupted during a Ganesha immersion procession late last night, has now been brought firmly under control with heavy deployment of forces.
Speaking to reporters, Boralingaiah said the administration acted swiftly to contain the unrest and restore normalcy. “We have ensured adequate deployment of officers and staff, along with our specialised forces, to keep the situation under control. At present, we are fairly confident that peace has been restored," he said.
The IGP explained that in the aftermath of the clashes, a large number of individuals hae been taken into custody for questioning. He clarified that the process was not meant as arbitrary arrests but as part of a careful verification exercise.
