Mumbai, Sep 14 (UNI) Maharashtra State agricultural minister Dhananjay Munde on Saturday thanked the central government for accepting his two demands out of three for the benefits of
state farmers.
Munde stated on his social media platform X said," The central government has decided to increase the import duty on edible oil by 20 percent after the decision to purchase soybeans with guaranteed price after 90 days."
Munde has expressed his belief that due to this decision, farmers' soybeans will get a good price and he has thanked the central government for this decision.
Since soybeans have been sown in more than 52 lakh hectares in the state and the rainfall has been good this year, the yield of soybeans will be bumper.
In such a situation, Agriculture Minister is constantly trying to get the right price for the soybeans of the farmers and from that point of view that, they should purchase soybeans from the central government at a guaranteed price and levy a duty on the import of products like edible oil, soya milk and soya cake made such demands by him.
Munde has thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and State Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Ajitdada Pawar for accepting 2 out of 3 demands made by him through the social platform X.
The import duty on crude edible oil has been increased from 5.5 percent to 27.5 percent while the import duty on refined oil has been increased to 35.75 percent from the previous 13.75 percent, added Munde.
