Kolhapur, Sep 10 (UNI) The INDIA Aghadi alliance today staged a 'Thiyya Andolan' (a sit-in protest) in front of the district collector's office here to demand the cancellation of the new 'Jan Surksha Kayada' law passed by the state government.
Workers of the alliance, led by Congress district president and state legislature council group leader Satej Patil, were joined by representatives from various political parties, including the Congress, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP-SP), Shiv Sena (UBT), Communist Party of India (CPI), CPI-M, and the Peasant and Workers Party. They staged the protest, shouting slogans against the new law, which they termed a "Black Law."
Addressing the gathering, Patil said the state government had misused its majority to pass this "Black Law" in both the state assembly and legislative council. He said the law was brought in without hearing people's objections and would create difficulties for various social organisations.
