India asks Bangladesh to uphold sanctity of boundary after three Bangladeshi 'smugglers' killed in Tripura while stealing cattle

New Delhi/Agartala, Oct 17 (UNI) India said today that an incident in Tripura, in which three Bangladeshi smugglers were killed, underscores the need for Bangladesh to undertake necessary measures to uphold the sanctity of the International Boundary and support the construction of fencing to prevent cross-border crimes and smuggling.
The statement by the Ministry of External Affairs came in the wake of the October 15 incident in Tripura in which three Bangladesh smugglers who had entered Indian territory to steal cattle, were killed after they attacked the local villagers.
The MEA said the three men were three km inside Indian territory, and had attacked and injured local Indian villagers with iron dahs and knives, and killed one villager, even as other villagers arrived and resisted the attackers.
