India shifts to AI-driven, homegrown innovation at Innoverge

Bengaluru, Oct 11 (UNI) India's innovation trajectory is witnessing a paradigm shift, moving away from dependence on government-led initiatives towards a homegrown, AI-driven, and collaborative model, industry and government leaders said on the concluding day of the Confederation of Indian Industry’s (CII) flagship India Innovation Summit — CII Innoverge 2025, held here today.
Kamal Bali, Chairman, CII Innoverge 2025 and President and Managing Director, Volvo Group India, said that partnership is central to India's innovation strategy.
"India must move from an obsession with competition to an obsession with collaboration. To become a product-first nation, we need stronger R&D investment, rapid productisation, and scaling AI-driven solutions across supply chains and clean-energy systems," he said.
Dr S Selvakumar, Commerce and Industries Karnataka Principal Secretary said the state is leading India's innovation journey by transforming talent into intellectual property.
"With over 400 R&D centres, AI and Data Sciences initiatives, and Industry 4.0 programmes for SMEs, we are fostering homegrown solutions and expanding innovation beyond Bengaluru to Hubballi, Mysuru, Mangaluru, and Belagavi through strong public-private partnerships," he said.
Rabindra Srikantan, Chairman, CII Karnataka State Council 2025–26, said India's demographic advantage must be harnessed through aligned education, skills, and innovation.
Guruprasad Mudlapur, Vice Chairman, CII Karnataka State Council and President, Bosch Group India, said AIoT and robotics are reshaping production and supply chains. Scaling industrial adoption and regional innovation hubs is vital for sustainable growth.
