Indian Democracy and Women’s Leadership set a global example says Dr. Neelam Gorhe

Barbados Oct 12 (UNI) The 68th Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Conference concluded successfully in Barbados. The global event saw participation from over 300 delegates and parliamentarians representing around 20 to 22 countries. On the final day yesterday, discussions focused on the issues faced by persons with disabilities.
Representing Maharashtra, Dr. Neelam Gorhe, Deputy Chairperson of the Maharashtra Legislative Council, emphasized that “a truly strong democracy is one where every section of society especially people with disabilities participates with equality and dignity. Dr Gorhe further underlined in a press statement today that the urgent need for a Zero Tolerance policy against violence and discrimination towards women, calling for stronger implementation mechanisms to ensure justice and safety.
In the concluding General Assembly session, Dr. Gorhe represented Maharashtra and described her participation as an enriching and inspiring experience. She said that interactions with delegates from various nations provided fresh perspectives on gender equality, women’s reservation, strengthening democracy, and international cooperation.
