Indians Army‘s weightlifters shine at Youth & Junior Asian Weightlifting Championship, Kazakhstan

Pune, July 6 (UNI) Three young weightlifters of Army Sports Institute, Pune, who were part of the Indian contingent, won gold and silver medals in the Youth & Junior Asian Weightlifting Championship, being held in Kazakhstan from July 02-10.
Sports cadet Maharajan won gold medal in his 60 Kg weight category by lifting 115 kg in snatch and 140 kg in clean & jerk. Sports cadet Dharamjyoti and Girl Sports cadet Pungi Tara settled for Silver medal in 56 kg and 44 kg weight category respectively.
The three budding weightlifters, part of the team, have secured a podium finish, said a Defence release here today.
