Irani Cup: Vidarbha strengthens grip with 224-run advantage over Rest of India

Nagpur, Oct 3 (UNI) Vidarbha tightened their hold on the Irani Cup encounter against Rest of India, stretching their overall lead to 224 runs by the close of play on the third day at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium here on Friday.
Resuming at 142 for 5 in reply to Vidarbha’s first-innings total of 342, Rest of India faltered early in the morning session. Aditya Thakare struck with the very first ball of the day, trapping Manav Suthar lbw after a review overturned the umpire’s original decision.
Pacer Yash Thakur then removed Saransh Jain with a yorker and dismissed Akash Deep, who was caught at cover. Skipper Rajat Patidar, starting the day on 42, battled to reach 66 with ten boundaries but perished attempting a big shot off Harsh Dubey to long-off. Thakur wrapped up the innings with his fourth wicket, finishing with figures of 4/66, as Rest of India were bundled out for 214 , handing Vidarbha a handy first-innings lead of 128 runs.
