Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu pins his military secretary Maj Gen Gofman as next Mossad chief

Jerusalem, Dec 4 (UNI) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has tapped his military secretary and IDF officer Maj. Gen Roman Gofman as the next Mossad director, after the current chief, David Barnea, completes his tenure in June 2026.
Speaking ahead of a cabinet meeting on the budget on Thursday, Netanyahu stressed that Gofman had worked closely with the Mossad throughout the war, praising him for his "initiative and willingness to engage," making him one of the most qualified people for the job.
The appointment was submitted to the Advisory Committee for Senior Appointments for review.

Tehran, Jan. 24 (UNI) Iran’s Foreign Ministry on Friday denounced a European Parliament resolution criticizing Tehran over human rights violations during recent unrest, calling it “meddlesome and irresponsible.”
The European Parliament on Thursday expressed “full solidarity” with Iranians, accused the government of rights violations, and called for the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps to be designated a terrorist organization.
