Jammu, Feb 10 (UNI) An Army jawan sustained a bullet injury on Monday along the Line of Control in Nowshera sector of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir.
Official sources said that an army hawaldar received a bullet injury while he was guarding the border this afternoon in Nowshera sector.
"He was immediately evacuated and shifted to the Army Hospital Rajouri," they said and informed that his condition is stated to be stable.
He received injury in suspected firing from across the border while the matter is being investigated, they said.
Earlier in the day, security forces had launched search operation near the Line of Control in Poonch.
Official sources here said that acting on specific inputs about the suspicious movement, a joint team of Army, police and special operation group launched searches in Mendhar, Krishna Ghati, Surankote and other border villages close to the LoC in Poonch district.
Notably on Feb 8, Indian troops effectively retaliated to the firing by suspected terrorists along the LoC in Rajouri district.
Official sources said that the suspected terrorists fired few rounds on the patrol party at LoC in Rajouri.
"The Indian Army troops effectively retaliated to the firing," they said, adding that no injury was reported on the own side.
Meanwhile, on the intervening night of February 4-5, a major infiltration was foiled when a group of suspected terrorists believed to be killed in a landmine explosion on the LoC in Battal area of Krishna Ghati sector in Mendhar area of Poonch district.
