J&K Congress pays tributes to Indira Gandhi on her 40th death anniversary

Jammu, Oct 31 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Congress party leaders paid floral tributes to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her 40th death anniversary at party headquarters here on Thursday.
JK Congress Working President Raman Bhalla flanked by senior leaders paid floral tributes to Indira Gandhi.
They also paid tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister and one of the greatest stalwarts of the country, on his 150th birth anniversary.
Addressing the gathering, Bhalla, while paying floral tributes to Indira Gandhi remembered her supreme sacrifice for the unity and integrity of the nation.
He said that Indira created history by providing an able and dynamic leadership to the Country and was acknowledged as a strong and visionary leader in the world.
She will always be remembered as a leader of masses with strong commitment to the upliftment of poor and downtrodden and devotion to the cause of nation and did not succumb against any pressures at the cost of the unity and integrity of the nation.
Mula Ram recalled her historical contributions in the form of Shimla agreement, which binds Pakistan to settle all outstanding issues with India including Kashmir through bilateral means, strengthening of Non Aligned Movement (NAM) in the World, besides librating Bangladesh for which her leadership was commended by former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee who compared her to Goddess Durga.
He said that Congressmen should remain committed and strengthen the principles for which Indira Ji lived and sacrificed her life.
Ravinder Sharma in his address referred to the attempts to distort history by certain forces, who are trying to divert the attention of countrymen from the great contribution of Nehru- Gandhi leadership and the role of Congress party and its leadership from time to time.
He said that time has come to fully understand and recall the role of congress and its leadership on various fronts and counter those spreading falsehood in the society.
Yogesh Sawhney, Ved Mahajan, Zahida Khan and DCC President Rajouri Shabir Ahmed Khan while paying floral tributes to Indira Gandhi recalled her contributions and sacrificing her life for the unity and integrity of the country.
