Jeremy Allen White steps into Bruce Springsteen’s shoes in ‘Deliver Me From Nowhere’

Los Angeles, May 17 (UNI) Jeremy Allen White will step into the shoes—and the soul—of Bruce Springsteen this autumn in ‘Deliver Me From Nowhere’, a biographical drama exploring the creation of the singer’s seminal 1982 album ‘Nebraska’.
The film is set for theatrical release on October 24 this year, with 20th Century Studios backing the release, placing it in the thick of the awards season.
Directed and written by Scott Cooper, who is known for his work in projects such as ‘Crazy Hearts’, and ‘Hostilities’, the film adapts author Warren Zane’s 2023 book of the same name, and charts Springsteen’s decision to abandon stadium rock spectacle in favour of something raw, introspective and deeply personal, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

The film is produced by Cooper, Zanes and Scott Stuber, alongside Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Eric Robinson of the Gotham Group, and narrates the journey of the man behind the record.
His sixth studio album, ‘Nebraska’ is a concept record telling the stories of blue-collar-workers, and is known for its dark vibe and morose nature, deviating significantly from the singer’s previous arena rock style albums.
Released to near universal acclaim, the LP would become one of the most acclaimed records of Springsteen’s career. The album is known for some of the most iconic classics such as ‘Johnny 99’, ‘Nebraska’, and ‘Highway Patrolman’.
The cast features ‘Succession’ star Jeremy Strong as Jon Landau, Springsteen’s longtime manager and producer. Also joining the ensemble are Stephen Graham as Springsteen’s father, Paul Walter Hauser as guitar tech Mike Batlan, Odessa Young as love interest Faye, and Gaby Hoffmann, David Krumholtz, Marc Maron, and Chris Jaymes in supporting roles.
Speaking at CinemaCon last month, White described the project as a “dream come true,” adding: “I feel really lucky. We all had Bruce’s blessing on this film.” Footage from the trailer reportedly featured White performing Springsteen’s iconic ‘Born to Run’, highlighting the film’s blend of music and character-driven storytelling.
Springsteen and Landau are both closely involved in the project, lending it greater level of authenticity compared to most biopics. Acclaimed producer Dave Cobb, known for his work with Springsteen, Jason Isbell, and Brandi Carlile, is overseeing the film’s music.
Strong, reflecting on the emotional weight of his role as Landau told Variety “The last six months that I’ve spent in Bruce’s world with his music… I don’t think I’ve ever encountered a person’s body of work or legacy that uplifted me more… Jeremy’s work is incredible. Bruce is on set a lot. We’re all kind of working on it together. It’s a real collaboration.”
Announcing the project, David Greenbaum, president of Disney Live Action and 20th Century Studios, said: “It is a once-in-a-lifetime honour to be collaborating with Bruce Springsteen, an inspiring and incomparable artist. The deep authenticity of his story is in great hands with Scott Cooper.”
