Judges have langar at SC premises on Guru Nanak Jayanti eve

New Delhi, Nov 14 (UNI) Supreme Court judges including new Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna on Thursday took part in langar organised by SCBA on the eve of Guru Nanak Jayanti.
Justice B R Gavai, Justice Surya Kant, Justice N Kotiswar Singh, Justice Rajesh Bindal, Justice Ujjal Bhuyan, Justice K V Vishwanathan, Justice P B Varale, and Justice J K Maheswari also were present.
All the judges, lawyers and others present at the langar were seen wearing saffron-coloured scarves on their heads.

Cong welcomes SC order on SIR, accuses BJP of spreading disinformation, distorting facts

New Delhi, July 12 (UNI) In an effort to counter what it called as "disinformation and distortion" by the BJP regarding the Supreme Court order on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, the Congress today said it was satisfied with the ruling, noting that the court had directed the Election Commission of India (ECI) to accept the Aadhaar card, voter card and ration card as valid proof of identity.
Moreover, the party clarified that it "never pressed" for the stay of the SIR.
