Kangra Tests Disaster Readiness in Statewide Mega Mock Drill Across All 14 Sub-Divisions

Dharamshala, June 15 (UNI) A state-level multi-hazard disaster management mega mock exercise was conducted across Himachal Pradesh on Monday under the aegis of the State Disaster Management Authority (HPSDMA) in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
In Kangra district, the exercise was carried out under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Hemraj Bairwa to assess disaster preparedness, response capability, and inter-departmental coordination.
The 10th State-Level Mega Mock Exercise was simultaneously conducted in all 14 sub-divisions of Kangra district in two phases. As part of the simulation, a devastating earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale was assumed to have struck the district at 9:14 am, triggering scenarios involving building collapses, people trapped under debris, landslides, and other disaster-related emergencies.

Jaipur, Jul 13 (UNI) The Rajasthan High Court on Monday dismissed petitions against the "encroachment" demolition drive being carried out by authorities in the border belt of Jaisalmer, Barmer, Sriganganagar and Bikaner, holding that "the issue of National Security is Supreme (paramount)".
Dismissing the petitions, a Single Bench of Justice Sameer Jain held that normally followed procedural rules of natural justice can be relaxed or dropped to the demands of national security.
