Karnataka BJP chief slams CM camp for 'insulting' legacy of Mysore royal family

Bengaluru, Aug 4 (UNI) Karnataka BJP president Vijayendra Yediyurappa today accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his close circle of consistently showing contempt for the legacy of the Mysore royal family, particularly Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar, and attempting to distort the historic significance of the Krishnaraja Sagar (KRS) dam.
Vijayendra’s sharp remarks come in the wake of Minister HC Mahadevaappa’s controversial statement that it was Tipu Sultan who laid the foundation for the KRS dam, a claim that has been met with disbelief and outrage across Karnataka.
“This is nothing short of an insult to the sacrifice and vision of Nalwadi,” Vijayendra said. “Historical records prove that it was Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar’s dream and persistence, supported by the sweat and toil of countless others including Sir M Visvesvaraya, that gave birth to KRS.”
