Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara clarifies Rani Abbakka event, denies ABVP link

Bengaluru, Sep 11 (UNI) Karnataka Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara today clarified his presence at a public procession in Tiptur, asserting that his visit had no connection with any ABVP programme and reiterating his commitment to the Congress party.
The Minister's clarification comes amid speculation after he was seen at a Rani Abbakka Rath Yatra and torchlight procession organised by the RSS-affiliated student group ABVP, an event which has sparked controversy.
Speaking to the media, Parameshwara explained that his visit to Tiptur was for an official review meeting. "While on my way, I came across a procession on the street. On inquiry, I learned that it was being held to honour Rani Abbakka, a revered pre-independence freedom fighter. I stopped my car, paid my respects by placing flowers, and then continued with my schedule," he said.
